Tips For Drafting An Essay

In every major, you are going to write an essay. Whether it’s a research paper, creative writing, or persuasive essay, narrative essay, etc. Some students find it difficult to write an essay. Well, today I am going to address some tips to draft your essay. Some of the ways you can draft your essay are by using a free-write concept, outline your essay, and the use of six magic questions.

My most favorite way of drafting my essay is free-write. I learned this tip in one of my English Writing classes. So, it goes like this, you keep writing your essay without looking at your computer screen and without rechecking your Grammar. You just go on with writing and put all the ideas in your writing all at once without being distracted by anything. This will help you put all of your ideas at once without going back and forth in your writing. Additionally, most of the time, when we go back and forth we tend to forget what we were going to say in our essay. Sometimes we even forget the main keys of our essay because we get too distracted by grammar mistakes. Besides, when we watch the screen, we tend to rethink whether we should add this to the writing or not. This keeps our thoughts to the limit that we can’t get creative in our writing. Freewriting will help you put all the points that are in your mind in your writing without being distracted by other things.

The second way you can draft your essay is by using an outline. There are tons of outlines you can find online, which you can use for your writing. Outlines are mostly in bullet points or sections. In an outline, you drop your ideas, which will help you write your essay. Outlines help you organize your writing, direct you towards your essay, save time, help you to structure your writing, etc.

Last but not least, the use of six magic questions. The magic questions are: Who? Where? When? Why? What? How? I called them my magic questions because they are so helpful and quick to use. You just have to answer these questions in your writing based on the topic you have chosen. When you draft your essay based on these questions, they will help you save time. It will also take you directly to your point in the essay. It’s easy to use, and helps you find research resources.

Writing an essay can be difficult. But, drafting it can make it easy. Drafting an essay can help organize your work, help find resources, and be direct to the point. Also, it is easy to do and apply in your final writing. Free write, outline, and the use of six magic questions are the tips I used when drafting my essay. What are some ways you draft your essay?
