My name is Nimra Mian. My major is a Bachelor's Degree in English - Writing Option. My favorite class that I particularly enjoyed is English 3080 - WRITING FOR DIGITAL SPACES. I like this class because it was my first ever class that introduced me to a blogging platform. Also, it has taught me the skills to become a professional blogger and help me build my own blog page. Additionally, through that blog page, I have been able to connect with people all around the world.
Another class that I enjoyed is English 4017 CREATIVE WRITING because I got to write poems, plays, drama, scripts, stories, and many more things. It was a whole new learning experience for me.
My favorite part of being in an English major is that it doesn’t focus on a specific field. There are so many options you can choose from. For example, you can work in fields like blogging, PR, journalism, creative writing, literacy, education, entertainment, and many more. The career paths I am looking forward to exploring with my degree are blogging, and content writing.
I remember my first time blogging on WordPress.The professor gave us the assignment to write blogs each week. I decided to write about Women's Rights and Violence as I thought that this will help me to reach out to the audience and people can relate to it. First, I did some research on the topic. After that, I start writing my blog. After I posted my first blog, the response I got was amazing.
Some of my audience were my classmates and some were total strangers. People were liking my blog and they wanted me to write more about such kinds of issues. As I clicked on my followers' page, their page was also discussing issues similar to Women's Rights.
It just clicked in my head that I can be the voice of so many people and I shouldn’t let this opportunity go easily. So, I decided to write more about Women's Rights and Violence as from my voice it might change someone's life for the better.
The thing I am looking forward to the most about this new blogging opportunity is to become the voice of the people. Through my blogging, I want to help others and give them a platform where hopefully they can find the answers to their question.
