On Friday, September 9, 2022, Kean University hosted its annual Kean Day event in total style as the School of English Studies Department stood front and center in the mix of all the excitement.
Kean Day is a fun and delightful experience designed to introduce, reacquaint and promote the campus experience. Departments and Student Groups often conduct on-site experiments, performances, and demonstrations, including what the School of English Studies has done.
When moms support their daughter’s English studies goals |
But do not take my word for it! Over sixty-five people stopped by our post and learned much about what the Kean School of English Studies offers. Furthermore, two remarkably concerned moms interested in supporting their daughter’s decision to choose English as a Major or Minor and apply for our year-round internship opportunities agree that the event was superb and that the School of English Studies Department rocks.
The best part of Kean Day while tabling was crossing paths with the girls from the past Kick-off to Self-Care event hosted by the School of English Studies, Dr. Abriana Jetté and little Ana, Professor Irisa Leverette, President Lamont Repollet, and ten to twenty others. The Swag Bag Giveaway is a massive highlight and hit with Kean students, staff members, and guests.
There is nothing terrible to state about the event besides my clothing attire. I wore the wrong top on a beautiful warm sunny day. The food, music, energy, staff and students, and other department setups, were all pleasurable.
More importantly, why choose the School of English Studies and all it offers in earning an English degree? Because the School of English Studies prepares students to join professionals such as writers, professors, lawyers, marketers, managers, publishers, producers, editors, and publicists.
English students at Kean can also explore Literature, Writing, or English in Global Settings. Each concentration allows students to develop advanced writing skills unique to their voice and gather in-depth knowledge of literature. These tools prepare our students for success in a variety of professional careers.
Students have the opportunity to conduct original research, alone or with a faculty mentor, and present their findings at the university, local, and national levels. In-house internships are available, as well as outside the university, through its strong connection with Career Services.
Special thanks to the School of English Studies Department for the fantastic opportunity and my former classmate Rashaad for being kind enough to retrieve my delicious fish and chips snack. And thank you to every Kean administrator, staff member, student, parent/guardian, friend, and guest of Kean students for stopping by our table.
