About Me!

About Me….

My name is May, and I’m a recent graduate with an MA in Communication Studies. I’m a retired Police Sergeant from the Federal Police Department within the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. After a long stretch of medical leave, I felt it was necessary to reinvent myself and my career. I returned to school in 2015, having only an Associate of Arts in Business Management which I obtained in 1985 from Hudson County Community College. Since then, I acquired my Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management and an Associate of Arts in General Bible Studies in 2017 from Pillar College. I earned an A.A.S. in Hospitality in 2019 from Essex County Community College and my Master of Arts in Communication Studies from Kean University in May 2022.

In addition to my accredited degrees and parallel to the workload, I was also studying to become an Ordained Minister. Those studies awarded me a Bachelor of Science in 2015, an Msc. 2016 and a Doctorate of Divinity in 2017. I retired from the bank in 2016, but returned to the workforce in 2019 as an English Language Tutor at Essex County Community College. During my time there, I assisted students with reading, writing, comprehension, proofreading, grammar, and essay structure. This assignment was interrupted by Covid-19. In 2020 I enrolled in Kean’s Graduate program through the NJ Unemployment Program.

“At times, one can become overwhelmed, but do not give up. I am a living testimony.” Hoping to learn a lot more during this English Department Internship.
