Writing is a big part of how we as humans communicate effectively if the ability to be verbal is inaccessible to us. Writing dates back all the way to between 3400 and 3300 BC. Writing has evolved as humans evolved and shaped the way we learned different languages.
Writing is transforming the way we see the world today. From the way we communicate on social media to the way we text with our friends and family back and forth; we are still constantly evolving in writing. New English words are introduced to us often through writing evolving in places such as the internet.
Slang are common words and abbreviations used in everyday vocabulary that people use to communicate without having to say full words. These originated from the internet and laziness however people say them in their everyday verbal conversations as well. Some slang words that are often used are “Omg”, “Jk”, “Btw”, “Lol”, “Cringey”, and “Shooketh”.
Writing is a complex activity that can take place on any device. Computers are an efficient way to write something without needing extra supplies. Students can read and annotate on the computer without having to have a pen or highlighter. As well as allow for multitasking to happen easier. Someone can read a text in one tab and write a paper relating to that text in another tab.
In the next few years, there may be over thousands of new words introduced to us and used in our everyday vocabulary. With the progression of writing, people can develop new habits and learn new information in a more effective way.
With writing becoming a big part of our culture, we should encourage people to research different words and their meanings as well as give new words meanings. Humans stay in constant change, so does writing.
